The alchemist raises his eyes fearfully. Their eyes lock, and the alchemist stretches out a trembling hand. Death grasps his hand and sighs as she looks skywards. His face turns ashen, and he shudders before growing rigid. The hand Death holds slowly crumbles to ash and slips through her emaciated fingers. A heap of ashes lies at Death's feet, and some of the ashes are carried off in the wind.
Many regions and religious teachers identify the Angel of death by the names of Samael, Azrael, and Sariel and of course the most common of all, Satan. By searching many ancient texts, we can find other names for this angel. This is the Christian biblical view, which informs us they are quite involved in continuing to minister and comfort us at the time of our death. No other religion or faith I know of, acknowledges angels ministering to humanity during the event of our separation from our bodies in death.
It was easy to know what she was picturing. Black hole made her conjured up an image of one day falling into a long dark eternal nothingness - forever separated from her toys, happy things in general, people she loved, people who loved her, anything beautiful or interesting, even from light. Yes, that would be a very frightening image and it's hard not to see death in the same way.
Other folks keep memorabilia like athletics, football, swimming or golf trophies. Or they have traveled or led a busy business life and the house or office is full of tchotchkes. You can film or photograph these things and add them to the funeral slideshow.
Empathy is the feeling most needed to understand the difficulties of others. It is the power to enter into another's personality to understand their sufferings and helping them to solve it. Once we develop empathy we will solve others' sorrows and ours will automatically vanish.
The me I was died in October of 1987. You know what, despite all that happened on my journey from then to now; it's not bad that the me I was passed away. Oh that me was a good person. I worked hard in my job. I was truthful; a good friend to my friends and tried to do the right things in my life. I worshiped my Father God on Sundays and even talked to Him a lot in prayer in my everyday life. But I really didn't "get it".
Third, ancient wisdom of many types and from several cultures, emphasizes unending life. It is declared that the Buddha could look back over 100,000 lives when he came to enlightenment. The Tibetan Book of the Dead also describes unending life. Other religions like Christianity say there is life after death as well.
A similar monument was unveiled on July 17, 2003 outside the Riverside Ballroom in Wisconsin. The River Side Ballroom was where Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper played on February 1, 1959, roughly thirty hours before the world of music changed forever.
